Carwyn Ellis Releases EP ‘Ti’ to raise funds for PPE in Wales

Llenyddiaeth

Colorama  frontman and Welsh Music Prizeshortlisted Carwyn Ellis releases an EP ‘Ti’ this week.

The three songs, title track plus ‘Gair O Gysur’ and ‘Drudwen’, follow single  ‘Cherry Blossom Promenade’  as  Carwyn’s contribution to the effort to raise funds for personal protective equipment (PPE) for Welsh health and care workers.

The songs are available via artist to fan platform  Bandcamp  only.
In an effort to support independent musicians,  Bandcamp take no commission from all sales, meaning more PPE money can be raised.

Carwyn  was initially inspired by his record label in Madrid,  Banana And Louie Records,  taking part in  Music for Gloves  six weeks ago, contributing a couple of songs himself to help provide PPE in Spain.

‘To see the boxes of equipment ready to go the health care workers after only a few days, showed that our actions and the donations that followed really could make a difference.’

When  Tarian Cymru  instigated in a similar project at home in Wales, he wanted to support them too.

‘Music is what I do, so that’s what I’m giving. It’s staggering that this situation is even happening in our hospitals and care homes, and that on top of their workloads, our health workers’ lives are actually being put at risk. If we have to help them ourselves right now, in the absence of official resources, then if possible, we must. I fully support Tarian Cymru and any other organisation which seeks to support and safeguard our health workers in the absence of institutional protection.’

All proceeds from the single and EP go towards  Tarian Cymru.

‘Bandcamp’s kind waiver of fees today makes it all the more timely to support efforts like this – of which there are plenty,’ Carwyn  adds.

‘Cherry Blossom Promenade’ was recorded in London, the EP during the sessions which produced last year’s celebrated and joyful ‘Joia!’ album.
