My name is Gwenno Llwyd Till. I’m in my second year of studying Film and Television in London University of Art, in the LCC college. I was brought up in Nant Gwynant, at the foot of Snowdon, but now I live in Criccieth and North London. I’m 21 now; the purpose of this film was to introduce myself to my fellow pupils and, in a way, to the world: as an artist and a filmmaker.
I created the film using videos and pictures I had taken during my period in Wales. It’s terribly important for me to include my Welshness in my work, and to use the Welsh language as much as possible; by creating the piece in monolingual Welsh I successfully introduced the language to people who had not heard the language, with many viewers showing their appreciation of our language and culture.
I also work with photography, and successfully created a printed zine, ‘Patriarchaeth’ (’Patriarchy’) with a team of three other young people. In the future I would like to create a women’s production company within the film industry. You can see more of my work on the Instagram account @gwennofilm.
