We’re Still Here Trailer | National Theatre Wales & Common Wealth

“It gives you a funny feeling, right here in your solar plexus, when people come together to speak up for themselves.”

We’re Still Here was a site-specific play inspired by – and featuring – the people behind Port Talbot’s ‘Save Our Steel’ campaign to save Port Talbot steelworks, one of the last heavy industries in Wales, where generations of steelworkers carry their craft. Staged in a disused tinworks, an immersive and promenade piece with song, rich lyrical text and an electronic sound score created from solenoids that played the architecture of the building.

EPIC FAIL

What if failure was a virtue, to be cherished like success is? If it was, would we all feel better?

Kid Carpet, Common Wealth and the school children of Llanrumney have been talking, creating, playing and getting things wrong. They created rubbish robots, sung songs, worn fake moustaches and (unfortunately) invented fizzy milk. They co-created a performance made with and for young people and their families. EPIC FAIL – It doesn’t have the answers but it does have the best songs, nonsense telly adverts and umbrellas for your shoes.

Operation Julie (New Trailer)

Theatr na nÓg are delighted to be working with Aberystwyth Arts Centre to present one of the most jaw-dropping true stories ever to come out of Wales… OPERATION JULIE.

It was hardly a typical drugs bust. When police from around the country swooped before dawn on Tregaron one morning in 1977, dozens of the 800 officers working the case looked like unshaven, long-haired hippies plucked from the audience of a Led Zeppelin gig. And the vast LSD co-operative they were targeting was, if anything, even more unconventional. Its leading members included doctors, scientists and university graduates – motivated, they insisted, by an evangelical drive to transform human consciousness itself.

An anarchic play with music from the 70’s prog-rock that tells the incredible story of the undercover operation that smashed one of the most extraordinary drug rings the world has ever seen.

Operation Julie is going on tour!

Theatr Brycheiniog: 24-26/08

The Lyric: 31/8 – 2/9

Trysor Gwent 2022

As part of the Year 6 to Year 7 Transition scheme Ysgol Gyfun Gwent Is Coed, the schools within the cluster have been working together to create a Musical Show about our area and our habitat.

Following workshops in each school. We were extremely fortunate to be able to fund professional composers, directors and script writers to bring the children’s ideas to life for the stage. The poet and playwright Gruffydd Owen wrote the script and lyrics for the songs and the songs were composed by Dyfan Jones and the children brought the show to life on the stage.

The children were full of excitement learning new songs, performing together and getting to know children who will be with them in year 7 at Gwent Is Coed. The show was performed on the 8th of July at Riverfront Theatre and here is a recording of the performance for you to enjoy with your families.
