Throughout 2021, author Mike Parker will host an online broadcast, live from the new Culture Colony Top Floor Studio in Machynlleth, to celebrate each of the eight ancient Celtic festivals: the two solstices, the two equinoxes and the four in between. In each one, Mike will hook up with some of his favourite writers, poets, artists and musicians, in order to honour and enjoy the turn of the year. At a time when physically gathering remains impossible, The Season Salon will help bring us together virtually, to learn, to laugh and to listen to bewitching words and sounds.
The Season Salon’s first outing will be for the festival of Imbolc, when winter starts tentatively thawing towards spring. Joining Mike will be poet and author Katherine May, who’ll read and discuss her bestselling memoir Wintering, in praise of the dark times, and celebrated author Jay Griffiths, who’ll take us on a magical skate across the icy lakes of mid Wales.
Each Season Salon will be pay what you feel through the use of a virtual ‘tip jar’ that you can access via a link during the broadcast or afterwards for a short time; the proceeds divided between the participants and crew so that we can make more of these live broadcasts. Even if you cannot afford anything, don’t let that put you off attending. All are welcome.
