This is a knitted Sculpture that is hung from the ceiling or displayed against a wall.
It is long and thin with frills that wrap all around it.
It tapers in a spiral to a point at the end.
If you touch it, it will gently rotate like a spindle
I made it by free knitting. If a hole developed or a lump I some times worked on it to make it bigger and add texture and weight.
This has added more detail to the knitting.
I cast on and off to add shape and make the knitting three dimensional.
I picked up stitches from different parts of the knitting to change the direction of the stitches.
I added stitches to make the frills so that it seems to be full of movement.
I joined three separate pieces of knitting together to make this into a larger hanging piece.
I used yarns of different materials, colours, textures and thicknesses.
Some of the colours are dark, some are light.
The colours at the ends of the frills make the shapes stand out
Some of the yarns are multicoloured with different thicknesses and colours spun together.
You can find lilac, grey, cream, orange and dark and light pink and green.
There are also flecks of other colours in the yarns like yellow and brown
It invites you to touch it, so I have made a sample that can be handled and enjoyed to get the feel of it.
