(3). I am asked to write about teaspoons.
As a child, in leafy Warwickshire, I met my first teaspoon…
it was made from thin, cold steel in Sheffield. In my stubby
little fingers I learned to bend this spoon into grotesque shapes.
Frances, my Mother often scolded me for digging in the black earth
bank beside the stone cottage. I made many friends with that spoon;
fat juicy worms, earwigs, snails and slugs.
These days our spoons are mostly made from organic bamboo…
they do not taste of cold steel…they are truly natural, warm and pleasing
to the touch. Mostly, my greatest affinity to these bamboo spoons is
to ladle Type A2 Desi Gir Cow Ghee and Raw, Organic Zambian Forest honey into my numerous cups of tea.
However, when my writing reaches a wider audience, and the money tree
flourishes, I have promised myself a set of six, solid – silver Apostle
teaspoons.
