The digital home of Welsh culture.

Crybaby is a powerful 2D animated short by autistic Welsh director Eleri Edwards, produced through Ffilm Cymru Wales’ Beacons scheme with Biggerhouse Film. The story follows Carys, a 24-year-old woman packing up her childhood home, only to be drawn into an otherworldly space overwhelmed by boxes and haunted memories. Her internal critic, visualised as an angry pencil-scribble shadow, confronts her at every turn.

Blending lived experience with striking animation, Crybaby explores autism, mental health, and the lingering impact of exclusion – while shining a light on the resilience required to challenge self-doubt and reclaim identity.

The film had its world premiere at Cardiff Animation Festival before screening at Encounters Film Festival in Bristol, and is now available to watch exclusively through Am.
