Canolfan

This music and film were commissioned by Aberystwyth Arts Centre in 2021, as we reopened, to express what the Arts Centre is all about – being part of a strong artistic community, supporting young people to develop their skills and enjoy the arts, and creating exciting new work. It celebrates what the arts means to us all after a pandemic – bringing people and communities together, sharing emotions, discovering how important the arts have become to us and how we’ve missed them. It has been a really uplifting and positive project and we hope everyone enjoys it as much as we have being part of it. A huge thank you to everyone involved!

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” ― Maya Angelou

In 2020 the world changed. As lockdowns were extended and it became clear that theatres would not be reopening anytime soon, it became clear that our industry was facing a massive crisis, not just economically but in terms of the mental health of a workforce overnight deprived of work and creative outlets.

Thanks to financial support from National Theatre of Wales, Angharad and Associate Artist Becky Davies were able to pen a project specifically for actors during lockdown 2020. This project concentrated on well-being and a moment in time to empower oneself as a performer and a human trying to steer one’s way through the trickiest of times.
