Why I’m involved with Anthem – Blank Face

Youth Forum member ‘Blank Face’, tells us why he’s involved with Anthem and what he hopes Anthem will achieve in the future.

‘CLOSURE’ – Track by Blank Face & LowKiy

We created this video to showcase our Youth Forum members and the beautiful track that accompanies it is called ‘Closure’ by LowKiy and Youth Forum member, Blank Face.

The concept for “Closure” came about from the common frustrations directed at unfortunate events during 2020 and if we were going to recover from the backlash, we needed to find some closure and move on with the new year! – Blank Face & LowKiy

BLOG – Making Anthem Youth Forum Films and Website Launch by Ella Pearson

Our youth consultation in 2020 gave us some great insights into young people’s experiences of music making and learning in Wales. But to move the hearts and minds of funders, donors, policy-makers and others, we knew we needed to make their voices heard more directly. Our Youth Forum set to work. They helped us to create our new brand, and filmed themselves to share stories about their experiences of learning and making music in Wales. Youth Forum member Ella Pearson tells us all about the process.

Cân: affricerdd

Cân: affricerdd is an opportunity for music-creators of
African descent living and working in Wales to write a new song (in any
language and musical genre) and create a music video of the new work.

Mirari More, N’famady Kouyaté, Ogun, and Skunkadelic (Tumi
Williams) were selected after an open call to artists to create a new work for
Cân: affricerdd. This programme is one of the strands of Tapestri, Tŷ Cerdd’s
new initiative helping to create a living musical archive of the people,

Candelas gyda Nest Llewelyn – Y Gwylwyr

Mae Candelas wedi recordio fersiwn newydd o glasur Brân or 1970’au, Y Gwylwyr ar y cyd gyda Nest Llewelyn or band. Mae’r trac yn rhan o gasgliad i ddathlu 10 mlwyddiant label I KA CHING.

“Roedden ni’n arfer chware ‘Y Gwylwyr’ yn fyw yng nghyfnod ein halbwm cynta’ pan o’n i ar y dryms ac yn canu”, meddai Osian Huw, prif leisydd a gitarydd Candelas. “Ond ar y pryd, roedde ni’n teimlo fod y riff gitâr yn rhy eiconig i neb ryddhau cyfyr ohoni.”

“Wedyn yn hwyr un noson yn stiwdio Sain, wrth recordio dwy o’n senglau diweddara’, daeth y gân i’r cof a dyma feddwl y bydde hi’n wych ar gyfer y casgliad yma, a chael Nest i ganu arni yn goron ar y cwbl.”

“Ro’n i ffansi mynd nôl ar y drymiau fel yn yr hen ddyddiau, felly dyma ni’n gosod dau set o ddrymiau i wynebu ei gilydd, gosod meic ar bawb a’i recordio hi i gyd yn fyw mewn amser byr iawn. Y diwrnod canlynol, dyma ni’n cysylltu hefo Nest ac yn lwcus, roedd hi’n fwy na hapus i ganu ar y trac newydd. Ac fel y clywch i ar y sengl, mae ansawdd ei llais hi’r un mor berffaith ag erioed.”

Tara Bandito – Blerr

Sengl newydd Tara Bandito – Blerr allan ar Recordiau Cosh.

“Wedi iddi (Tara) siarad yn y gorffennol am ei brwydron gyda iechyd meddwl, roedd recordio’r sgyrsiau’n brofiad addysgol, wrth sylweddoli bod allbwn creadigol yn un o’r arfau mwyaf pwerus o gymorth pan mae’n dod i daclo problemau iechyd meddwl. Cychwynodd ysgrifennu cerddi mewn sesiynau hwyrnos o farddoni ac esblygodd rhai o’r geiriau yma i ddod yn ganeuon cyntaf i Tara Bandito. Ar ôl creu demos o safon a’u gyrru i Recordiau Côsh Records, daeth yn artist newydd i’r label a chafodd tair sengl eu recordio gan y cynhyrchydd Rich James Roberts.”
