Forté Records

The Forté project is a ground-breaking talent development model that helps shape the next wave of music professionals in Wales by offering mentoring, masterclasses, training and plenty of various opportunities to boost the profile of music and musicians from Wales.

Their alumni include a long list of artists who have gone on to do great things, including two of the most recent Triskel Award Winners, Aderyn and Minas; Canton rockers CVC, who are about to tour their critically-acclaimed album across the UK; and valleys trio Chroma, who will soon jet off to SXSW in Texas.

Weeks after announcing their Forté 10 for 2022-23, Forté staff, friends and alumni gathered in Porter’s on the 30th of January to celebrate 8 years of the project AND to hear the announcement that they will be launching their own record label.

“We’re thrilled to be working alongside PYST in the creation of Forté Records” says Alexandra Jones from Forté, “It feels like a natural step that will breathe new life into the project. Forté Records aims to support artists in the Welsh Music Industry by lessening barriers surrounding the releasing of music.”

Not only will Forté’s new label give platform to the artists on their 2022-23 roster to release upcoming project, but will also aim to release projects by Forté alumni and non-affilited artists in Wales, all with aim of lifting artists in Wales to new heights.

PYST are very excited to be working alongside Forté to distribute their music this exciting new venture. Keep your eyes peeled on PYST and Forté Project socials for future announcements.

Vehicles is an educational science and opera project for children aged 6 – 12 years old.

Vehicles is the story of two astronauts embarking on a space journey but something goes horribly wrong. Join Captain Houston and Lieutenant Schmidt as they go on a time-travelling adventure through the history of transport.

On their operatic voyage, Captain Houston and Lieutenant Schmidt travel back in time and see cars, lorries, bikes, balloons and boats from their amazing spaceship. Performed by live singer / musicians on stage, viewers will experience how transport developed throughout history. Vehicles celebrates creativity and innovation in both music and engineering – as well as exploring the history of human transport.

The Making of A Monster – trailer / rhaglun

A grime-theatre mash-up by Connor Allen

A Wales Millenium Centre Production

09-19/11/22

Too black for my white friends, but too white for my Black friends. Growing up mixed race in Newport, I fell into a cloud of grey.

Absent Black father, ducking the police, working out what it means to be a man. I was struggling to find my place in the world and in danger of spiralling out of control. Then one moment changed my life.

Created from grime culture and inspired by Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Skepta and Kano, The Making of a Monster is my story.

Only Leave Love Behind by FFLOW.

With COP 27 around the corner, this song feels urgent. It was written during COP 26 after Carys was chosen to be a part of a Climate Project called ‘Everything Change’ with Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea and Dhaka Literature festival in Bangladesh, led by Owen Sheers and Margaret Attwood.

This is FFLOW’s second single – a heartfelt, anthemic ballad with powerhouse vocals, a song which asks people to think about the future they leave behind for others ‘The end lyrics are particularly aimed at world leaders’ said writer Carys Eleri. The lyrics are very personal, as it reflects on a loved one, who, as the song says – only left love behind.

The video is supported by National Botanic Gardens of Wales, Coco & Cwtsh, Dhaka Literature Festival and Taliesin Arts Centre. Shot by Andy Pritchard & Stephen Hart and co-directed by Carys Eleri.

Lyrics and music were written by Carys Eleri, the arrangement, instruments and production all by Branwen Munn at Goldhill Studios.

FFLOW want to direct people to varying climate tackling charities during COP 27, as a course of action.

FFLOW was formed during lockdown. Having spent years collaborating on comedy projects, the two decided to form a band together to express themselves in different ways and go with the FFLOW 😉 Having worked together on a project for National Theatre Wales in lockdown and co-creating a song called ‘Go Tell the Bees – Dod Nol at fy Nghoed’,  which focuses on our connection with nature in light of grief, the two have since embarked on a journey to discover those sounds and lyrics that comfort and lift us in difficult times.
