Pererin Wyf / Is Oilithreach Mé / I am a Pilgrim – Short Film
This short film documents Pererin Wyf / Is Oilithreach Mé / I am a pilgrim a participatory arts project that sought to connect with the Welsh and Irish diaspora with particular reference to a new cross-border pilgrimage connecting Pembrokeshire and Wexford.
The project took its title and inspiration from an 18th century hymn by the prolific Welsh writer William Williams Pantycelyn. The hymn is most often sung to the tune of Amazing Grace.
The project began in September 2022 with a series of online workshops with world class speakers including Emyr Wyn James, Gareth Bonello, Catherine Dunne and Pamela Petro focusing on key themes of the project; connecting with the Welsh and Irish diaspora, language, home, travel and song.
Activity continued in the Spring of 2023 with song and story sharing workshops and an exchange trip between the two counties. The project has resulted in this documentary soundtracked film by Rowan O’Neill, Paul Evans, Jacob Whittaker and John Ó Faoláin and a new macaronic song written by Wexford based traditional singer Rachel Uí Fhaoláin.
Pererin Wyf / Is Oilithreach Mé / I am a Pilgrim was devised, curated and produced by Rowan O’Neill in collaboration with Span Arts and co-facilitated in Wexford by Rachel Uí Fhaoláin of Ceol Mo Chroí and John Ó Faoláin of Traditional Archive Channel.
Pererin Wyf was part of the Ancient Connections project funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Ireland Wales Co-operation Programme.

Life Strings Dance Film for Gypsy Maker 5

LifeStrings is a screendance film that investigates climate justice, violins and motherhood using a contemporary flamenco dance vocabulary. Reflecting on traditional Flamenco dance rhythms, techniques, gestures and modes of transmission, the work asks questions about what we copy and imitate and what we disrupt and let go of in terms of traditions. The film is using a choreographic lens to navigate cultural and generational trauma while also relying on the dancing body to reveal embodied histories and practices. The Romani Lautari musicians have a great tradition of violin playing, with virtuosos frequently embroidering their music with extreme amounts of ornamentation. Rosamaria Kostic Cisneros is a professional dancer, choreographer, curator and qualified teacher. She is also a Dance Historian and Critic, Roma Scholar, Flamenco Historian and Peace Activist. As a dance writer Cisneros makes regular contributions to Bachtrack Magazine and Flamenco News. She has also danced with Protein Dance Company in the UK.

Spike Blackhurst – Against All Odds
I have created these sculptures to increase awareness of how emotional abuse can affect our internal organs. Emotions are often very abstract to try and describe. However, by allowing them to be viewed in a physical form offers a more inclusive audience and a deeper understanding, than just reading or listening about such trauma. Within this collection of sculptures, four have been forged from metal and connected with Raku fired clay, reflecting the strength and fragility that these materials can offer. After thirty years of working with metal, this is the first time I have incorporated clay into my work, this has been a challenging journey, filled with new discoveries and will now become part of my sculpture process for the future. The fifth sculpture “Intuition” is forged entirely from steel to demonstrate the strength we have inside of us. With the gut often named ‘the second brain’ or ‘the voice to listen too’, it translates as our intuition.

Talyllyn to Tidmouth – Wilbert Awdry, The Railway Series & Wales [4K]
For over 70 years the reverend wilbert Awdrys railway series has delighted and inspired fans around the world. The books, which have sold millions of copies, continue to keep the interests in steam railways alive.
The television series, broadcast in multiple languages, has been nothing short of a global phenomenon. It’s simple yet exciting stories, rich world and relatable characters have endured, and whether you know Thomas the tank engine from the books or show. He has been an important part of people’s lives growing up.
Many know the names and characters of the main cast. However there are parts of the fictional island of Sodor that are just as important.
Beyond its network of main lines and branch ways lies the picturesque Skarloey railway. A narrow gauge line that snakes its way through the heart of the island.
It’s home to a roster of small yet determined engines. Its history spans back to the early days of the island’s railways. With its dramatic storylines and engines with personalities greater than the highest peaks of Sodor, you’d be forgiven for thinking it comes straight from fantasy.
However its engines, its stories and history have a very real analogue. And much of that reality can be found in Wales.
The story of the Talyllyn is one of triumph. Of overcoming the odds and paving the way for what would become a global movement. It was also a significant inspiration for a number of the books found in the railway series. Four Little Engines, Gallant Old Engines and others have stories, characters and events directly inspired by the first few years of the Talyllyn’s existence as a preserved line. But what role did Awdrys books play in the continued success of the Talyllyn. And how has his enduring legacy, 40 years after his last book was published fed back into the railway with a heart of gold.

Lochgoilhead Forever Trailer
In this wryly observed piece, the filmmaker and his cranky father finally head to the neglected home where his grandparents once lived. Like the chalet itself, the men’s relationship is long untended. Sorting through the dusty relics proves to be an emotional task.
Director – Liam Martin
Informed by his background in philosophy, Liam’s documentary films explore themes of identity, belonging and acceptance. ‘Kernow’, his first independent documentary is a 16 minute short taking an empathetic look at the current resurgence of interest in Cornish ethnicity, and was nominated for Best Single Documentary at the 2019 Celtic Media Festival. His second short documentary, ‘Lochgoilhead Forever’, derives wry humour and emotional resonance from personal experiences of messy family dynamics and unspoken grief.
