Tafwyl is Cardiff’s annual celebration of Welsh language arts and culture. The festival is organised by Menter Caerdydd; a charity who promote and extend the social use of the Welsh language in Cardiff.
After cancelling original plans of holding a three-day event at Bute Park, a virtual, ambitious, and lively festival will be held LIVE here on AM, Saturday 20.06.20.

Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru
The National Eisteddfod is one of our most iconic festivals, with over 1,000 different events and activities during the week. An eclectic mix of all cultural genres, it’s welcoming, inclusive and friendly. From literature to street theatre and drama, and from science to activities for Welsh learners, the festival offers something for everyone. Live music is an integral part of the week, with the scene’s leading bands performing on the open air stage, acoustic sessions in Caffi Maes B, folk sets in the Ty Gwerin and classical and alternative music in Encore. This is the year of Eisteddfod AmGen, with sessions across all digital platforms and in the press and media throughout the summer.
Reflections – a Dance for Parkinson’s film.
Reflections is a touching and uplifting film danced by participants of the NDCWales’ Dance for Parkinson’s programme and is now available to watch, along with a mini-documentary online.
National Dance Company Wales
National Dance Company Wales makes brilliant dance with and for all kinds of people in all kinds of places.With innovation and imagination, we widen the spectrum of what dance can be so that more people can make, watch, participate in and learn about dance in Wales and across the world.
As a repertory company, we create work by a range of choreographers to reflect different perspectives and find new ways of dancing. With innovation, creativity, imagination and care, we help Wales and its communities to flourish.
Because we believe in the power of dance, we share our passion for the artform. We create new possibilities of what dance can be so that more people can make, watch, participate in and learn about dance in Wales and across the world.
Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau
Sesiwn Fawr is an annual festival that attracts thousands of people to Dolgellau to enjoy the best of folk and Welsh music, as well as traditional Welsh dance, literature, children’s activities, comedy, food and drink. During the festival, Dolgellau is bursting at the seams, with events being held in numerous venues across the town, showcasing the best folk and Welsh music artists.
Pontio Bangor
Pontio is Bangor University’s Arts & Innovation Centre, opened in 2015. The Grimshaw-designed building, is home to a versatile theatre, Studio and Digital Cinema. Food & drink are available at Ffynnon bar and Cegin cafe. Pontio Arts offers varied entertainment seven days a week, from the latest films to plays, gigs, contemporary circus, cabaret shows and much more. The building also houses a state-of-the-art innovation centre and a wide range of facilities for students, including a Students’ Union home and a number of teaching and learning spaces.
National Youth Arts Wales
Leading the way in providing exceptional opportunities in the arts for the most talented young people from all backgrounds and locations in Wales.
National Youth Arts Wales was founded in 2017 to unite and lead the future development of Wales’ six prestigious and long-established national youth ensembles comprising of the Brass Band, Orchestra, Choir, Dance ensemble & Theatre.
Those who are awarded annual membership following a successful audition process, gain exceptional training and performance opportunities with intensive and enjoyable residency programmes held during school holidays. Only Wales’ most talented young musicians, actors and dancers are selected and competition is tough. Committed to ensuring access and inclusion for all, irrespective of background or location, NYAW’s Bursary provision ensures gifted individuals are given the support they need to participate and excel.

Who are we?
Get The Chance is a social enterprise based in South Wales, working to create opportunities for a diverse range of people to experience and respond to sport, arts, culture and live events.
Get The Chance uses its online magazine website as a platform to showcase its activity. The website content features workshop activities and outcomes, reviews, editorial features and much more. Our website is a platform for our members to share, discuss and evaluate their personal responses with their networks and the wider world.
Get The Chance is the host organisation for members of Young Critics Wales, Community Critics Wales and 3rd Act Critics to host their activity and feedback.
Our Name –
Our name comes from a conversation between the comedian Billy Connolly and former Scottish trade union leader Jimmy Reid. At Reid’s funeral in 2010 Connolly stated;
“I remember him saying that if you look at these housing estates and high-rise flats – look at all the windows. Behind every one of these windows is somebody who might be a horse-jumping champion, a formula one racing champion, a yachtsman of great degree, but he’ll never know because he’ll never step on a yacht or formula one car – he’ll never get the chance.”
Connolly said those words still haunted him to this day.
