Ffrindiau Gigiau / Gig Buddies

Do you believe that everyone has the right to go to gigs and events that they love, to party, and to Stay Up Late?

For many people with a learning disability this is impossible.

At Gig Buddies we match people with a learning disability and/or autism with volunteers who share the same interests so they can go to gigs and events together.

Gig Buddies specifically focuses on events that happen in the evenings, such as concerts, in order to break the many barriers that stop people with a learning disability going out at night and staying up late. These barriers include lack of support, or inflexible support that forces people to leave events early. Other obstacles include transport, confidence, safety (such as discrimination and hate crime) not knowing what is on, and accessibility of venues and events.

We’re looking for volunteer Gig Buddies who can spare a few hours every month to go to gigs and events with their Gig Buddy.

We’re also looking for adults with a learning disability and/or autism who
would like a
Gig Buddy to help them to get out more and do the things
they love.

We’re currently operating across south Wales in Bridgend, Cardiff, RCT, and the Vale of Glamorgan –
and seeking funding to meet the demand all over Wales.
