Four short films documenting community culture streaming on Am now!
Am is delighted to share the latest edition of AmCam: a digital film festival documenting community culture in Wales.
This edition features four Welsh language short films about community culture by the filmmakers Hannah Mefin, Gwenno Llwyd Till, Lily Tiger T Wells, and Lauren Heckler. The films explore varied and exciting topics, including the importance of the local paper Llais Ogwan to the community of Dyffryn Ogwen, the creative practice of a group of artists in the North Wales countryside, an embroidery project by volunteers in the Carmarthenshire National Botanic Garden, and the essential work of the Coast Guard in Llansteffan.
Lea Glyn from Am said:
“It is extremely fascinating to see such diverse interpretations of community creativity, and that through the medium of the Welsh language. Documenting and portraying a community is vitally important, and Am is very privileged to be able to share these special films. Thank you to Lily, Gwenno, Lauren and Hannah for their wonderful work”.
The films were commissioned via an open call-out. This is the third round of AmCam films and previous films can still be seen on Am. AmCam was established to create paid opportunities for young filmmakers across Wales to portray their communities through short films. AmCam is supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
