Welsh rock and blues band, Alffa, will be bringing their unique brand of music to the Ffwrnes stage on December 4th as part of our ‘Live from the Ffwrnes’ series of digital shows. Audiences can watch at home for free as the gig will be streamed across several online platforms.
This talented duo hail from Llanrug near Caernarfon in North Wales. Dion Wyn Jones (vocals and guitar) and Sion Eifion Land (drums) formed the band back in 2015 when they met while studying in college.
Alffa have achieved a great deal in a short space of time, being included in the Horizons Gorwelion festival line-up in 2018 – a programme which singles out the most promising up and coming Welsh music acts to perform as part of the annual festival. And thanks to the streaming platform Spotify, Alffa have reached new audiences across the world and have racked up over 3 million streams worldwide – the most ever recorded for a Welsh language band.
This rock band has a blues and punky edge and are influenced by the likes of The White Stripes, Jimi Hendrick, Black Pistol Fire, Tymbal, The Black Keys and Jack White and perform predominantly in the Welsh language.
Alffa will be performing tracks from their album Rhyddid o’r Cysgodion Gwenwynig (Freedom from the Poisonous Shadows), including tracks such as Pla, Gwenwyn and Full Moon Vulture as part of the ‘Live from the Ffwrnes’ gig.
