Set in past and present South Africa, this is a poetic documentary on love and what it means to become human in the context of race, explored through the memories of Milisuthando, who grew up during apartheid but didn’t know it was happening until it was over. Combining a treasure trove of archive footage, home movies and personal photographs to tell the history of the Transkei, Milisuthando is also a love letter to the filmmaker’s own family.
