‘Wonder, Wonder, Wonder’: Morgan Llwyd (3)
In this episode we consider two books which were published by Morgan Llwyd during his last years, beginning with Gwyddor Uchod (‘The Science Above’), a long poem which discusses the stars and the planets, combining science and Christian mysticism. We define ‘mysticism’ as well along the way and note that it is a phenomenon found in various religions all over the world.
We also look at Gair o’r Gair neu Sôn am Sŵn (‘A Word from the Word or Talk about Sound’), a book containing a meditation on the difference between wordly languages and the word of God, although it also elevates the value of writing in the Welsh language and adapts a quote from a popular old Welsh prophecy in doing so. We also note that there’s an unexpected connection between Morgan Llwyd and Bob Marley and possibly discover a spiritual side of Richard Wyn Jones which his friend Jerry Hunter never knew about!
