Marshall Art’s exclusive digital premiere will be on Am on Friday, December 19.
A powerful and deeply personal story about turning pain into power is set to hit the screen. Ceirion Marshall, who hails from the Maesincla area of Caernarfon, opens up about the years of relentless bullying that pushed him to breaking point. The new documentary by Malwan Studio chronicles his emotional journey from reaching the wall to building confidence, first through Karate at Burman’s Martial Arts (BMA), then Kickboxing at MPMA (Marvin Pritchard Martial Arts) and on to the pursuit of his dream of becoming a pro MMA fighter. The film highlights how he has maintained the sensitive and caring nature that makes him truly remarkable in the face of hardship.
Dïon Wyn, the filmmaker and founder of Malwan Studio, said: “Our core intention in making this film was to offer a blueprint to children currently going through bullying. By seeing Ceirion’s journey, they can know there is a path forward. The film shows he couldn’t have done this without the love and respect he gained at BMA and MPMA.”
As well as hearing from Ceirion himself throughout the film, we also hear from his mother, Kelly Ann Marshall, who discusses the difficult early times; Sara Salisbury Roberts (BMA), who explains what he was like in those early days of learning Karate; and Marvin Pritchard (MPMA), who speaks to his future and current achievements in the ring.
Malwan Studio was founded by filmmaker Dïon Wyn, who won an RTS award in 2022 for the short film, ‘Y Lein: Streic Friction Dynamics’. The film covered the historic injustice of the nearly 1,000-day Friction Dynamics (Ferodo) strike in the Caernarfon area in 2001. This work was later made into a feature documentary working alongside Cwmni Da and was broadcast on S4C in 2024. Following this success, Dïon Wyn was nominated for the Rising Star award by the RTS in 2024.
