I Siarad – Frances Abigail Bolley

I Siarad is a Welsh-language contemporary folk song by Frances Abigail Bolley, commissioned by Tŷ Cerdd for Africerdd and will be performed at the Eisteddfod 2025.

It’s a song about language, home, identity, and the power of voice—from the political history of Cymraeg to the personal experience of being semi-verbal and autistic.

The spoken section adapts David Whyte’s poem ‘Ground’ to reflect on finding home as an outsider and the deep tie between language and place.
