“The Mighty Alffa” – Michael Sheen. In total agreement with Mr. Sheen, we’re excited to bring Alffa to CWRW in January, supported by Hyll and Ffatri Jam!

Alffa are a two-piece band so powerful that they became an instant success in Wales and beyond when their first single on Côsh Records was catapulted around the globe by Spotify’s biggest rock playlists. ‘Gwenwyn’ (Poison) was the first Welsh language song to be streamed a million times on the platform and, since then, the band have had similar successes with their follow-up singles, ‘Pla’ (Plague), ‘Full Moon Vulture’ and ‘Black Angel’, the lead track form their debut album.

“Alffa never disappoints. their music is great, their personality is lovable, and for a band who cares about quality, nobody does it better” – Keep Walking Music.

The band have stunned crowds with a massive sound that has pleased industry listeners and punters alike at Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City festivals. Dion Jones (Guitar) and Siôn Land (Drums) have never waited for opportunities to arrive, but rather elected to smash down doors and create their own path as a band.

Hyll are a Cardiff band known for their melancholic sounds and intelligent lyrics, which they sing in their native Welsh tongue. Iwan’s distinct vocals tell tales of growing up in Cardiff, with witty and often tender lyrical observations. Their sound is influenced by artists such as Pavement, Soccer Mommy and Pixies, whilst also taking inspiration from the thoughtful lyricism of Courtney Barnett, King Krule and Bill Ryder-Jones.

Ffatri Jam are emerging exponents of Welsh Hard Rock via Anglesey and Caernarfon, as heard on BBC Radio 1, Planet Rock and more. Their single ‘Geiriau Ffug’ was originally released on Welsh Music Day and was broadcast on BBC Radio 1 where it was recognized as one BBC Introducing’s Best Sounds of 2022.
