EMMA DAVIES-WARHURST’S FIRST SINGLE
Eisteddfod yr Urdd’s Year 7-13 Band/Individual Artist Competition is held every year at the Urdd’s National Eisteddfod as part of Triban Festival. Last year, at the Maldwyn Eisteddfod yr Urdd, it was Emma Davies-Warhurst from Cardigan High School who came out on top with her original song, ‘I’r Nefoedd’.
Emma has been composing, writing and performing her own songs for a few years by now. She plays a number of instruments including the piano which she plays on the track. She and her sister have also founded a group called Chwaer and they are very busy performing at a number of gigs around West Wales. The group is also under Fflach Cymunedol label.
Last year, the Urdd Eisteddfod Year 7-13 Band/Individual Artist Competition prize was funded by the PYST x Lŵp Music Video Fund and therefore as a result of winning the prize, Emma had the opportunity to record her winning song in a professional studio at JigCal Studio, Cardiff with Mei Gwynedd.
In addition to that, young film student Ruby Smith-Brown had the opportunity to film the accompanying music video for the track. This opportunity has been an unforgettable experience for Emma and Urdd hopes this will open more doors for her as a young singer songwriter.
‘I’r Nefoedd’ will be out tomorrow 7th February on Welsh Language Music Day alongside the music video which will premiere on AM.
