This is a collection about distance. Distance in all definitions. Distance in the singular, plural, and distance in all tenses.
Divided into five sections, this collection explores what it means to go from being within TOUCHING DISTANCE to LONG DISTANCE, what it takes to GO THE DISTANCE, to travel and to notice what seems so far IN THE DISTANCE, before present tense shifts into the past and becomes DISTANT.
These poems are about how distances define and distort relationships. All relationships. Family. Friends. Partners. Our younger and older selves. The distance of time, of place, and of intimacy. It pinches the moment when distance is born and peels between two people, when it pulls them so far apart that distance loses its meaning and there is nothing left.
