Archif presents… John Till

John Till, a master craftsman, reveals the art of making a shepherd’s crook. Have you ever stopped to wonder how they’re made, or what they’re used for?

Archif is a living record of contemporary artists in North Wales, documenting their work, personal stories, and creative journeys by Gwenno Llwyd Till, an artist and filmmaker based in North Wales.

Gwenno told us: “I looked closer to home for this one, documenting my dad’s love of craft, woodwork, and his patience. Both of my parents inspired me to create Archif—not as artists, but as unwavering supporters of my creativity. Though they pursued more traditional careers, they always encouraged me to follow my artistic path, and I can only express sincere gratitude for this—diolch Liz & John.”

Gwenno’s Archif project aims to capture diverse creative practices, from visual arts and literature to crafts and performance, making them accessible to a broad, bilingual audience, and by highlighting artists’ work with personal narratives, the project fosters visibility, community, and inclusivity in the arts!

Archif aims to celebrate all forms of creative expression, ensuring North Wales’ artists are seen, heard, and remembered.
