Launching Tudalen: A new digital space for Welsh language creative writing on Am

Orange image promoting Tudalen

Am is proud to launch Tudalen; a new digital space on our website to publish original literature from Wales. In partnership with the National Library of Wales, Tudalen will, through an open call, publish 3 winning pieces of micro-fiction on St David’s Day. Tudalen is also supported by the Arts Council of Wales.

We are asking for pieces of micro-literature (up to 500 words) responding to the theme ‘Portrait’, to celebrate the National Library of Wales’ latest exhibition, ‘Portrait & Power’. The 3 winning pieces will be selected by a special Judging Panel, and published on Am on St David’s Day. The winning writers will receive a financial prize of £100 each for their work.

Alun Llwyd, the Chief Executive of PYST Cyf, the company which runs Am:

‘One of the basic principles of Am is to be a platform for new voices and it’s exciting to be able to extend this to the literary world. It is also a privilege to partner with the National Library on the project, especially with the Library’s home, Aberystwyth, designated as Wales’ first City of Literature by UNESCO’.

You can apply for the first round of Tudalen by sending your piece to am@pyst.net by February 12th 2026. Find out more about the competition in the guidelines here.
