Hugh Griffiths founded Lily Pad Films in 2009 to provide participatory filmmaking opportunities for schools and community groups across South Wales. He recognised a strong desire among communities to engage in creative storytelling, but also identified a clear gap in access to the skills, resources, and technology needed to bring those stories to life. Since its inception, the majority of Lily Pad Films’ work has mainly been focused in Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT), where the organisation has delivered more than 300 projects across primary and secondary schools over the past 16 years. These projects have encompassed every stage of the creative process—from scriptwriting and storyboarding to camerawork, animation, editing, VFX, and performance—while also building confidence and collaboration.
