Communication and Product Officer
This is a new, exciting position that requires an organised, experienced and enthusiastic individual who has strong leadership and communication skills, and a thorough understanding of the Welsh music industry, together with a general knowledge of the arts in Wales.
Responsibilities:
- Run and develop PYST social networks.
- Foster and maintain relationships with labels and artists (existing and new).
- Work with the PYST Product Officer to look after the PYST record release system.
- Create marketing and promotional opportunities for record releases.
- Coordinating some of PYST’s other opportunities and projects e.g. Video Fund and Music Fund.
- Work with the Am team.
- Any other duties that are reasonable within the role
We are looking for an individual
- Who has experience running social accounts on behalf of an organisation, such as Instagram, Facebook and Threads.
- Can work as part of a small team, manage time and prioritise workload.
- Who can communicate, foster and develop relationships, and coordinate a team.
- Who has basic design skills, including an understanding of programs such as Canva.
- Who has knowledge and interest in the music world in Wales as well as the wider cultural life of Wales
- Has the ability to communicate confidently verbally and in writing in both Welsh and English
More about PYST
PYST is the first distribution and promotion system for Welsh labels and artists. It now distributes, promotes products and collects and shares income to over 75 self-released labels and artists.
PYST is also responsible for several other music projects, e.g. the PYST Music Fund (on behalf of Creative Wales), the PYST x S4C Video Fund and the PYST x Mentrau Iaith Circuit, among others.
PYST is part of the PYST Cyf company and is funded by the Welsh Government through Creative Wales. It is a not for profit private company by guarantee and is led by Alun Llwyd (Chief Executive) alongside the Board. The company is located in an office in Castle Arcade in the center of Cardiff. As well as the PYST distribution system, PYST Cyf is also responsible for Am’s cultural digital platform.
PYST Cyf is a small and enthusiastic team. As well as working with the PYST Product Officer, working for PYST Cyf will also mean some work with the team working on Am. PYST Cyf’s work is based in our office in Cardiff, although we operate a hybrid system which allows working from home a few days a week. PYST is also trialling a 4 day working week to promote the wellbeing of our staff as well as offering a generous holiday allowance, which includes closing the office over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Salary: £26k – £28k per annum (based on experience)
Duration: 12 month contract with possibility of extension depending on funding.
Pension: The employer will pay a 3% contribution
Holidays: 28 days (including statutory bank holidays). In addition, the office will be closed on St David’s Day and also over the Christmas / New Year period
