I am a ceramic artist living in Cardiff, Today I present my research and creative development for my latest collection, Merched y Mabinogi. The Mabinogi was written down in the Red Book of Hergest, as part of a wider collection of Celtic and Medieval folk prose. Before that, the Mabinogi was not a written text. It existed through oral tradition, passed down from generation to generation by the Cyfarwydd.
Through my work, I position myself as a contemporary Cyfarwydd, repeating the Mabinogion not orally or through prose but through visual art. This method shaped my understanding of the research; how can I take on the role of the Cyfarwydd in today’s contemporary society?
