Anabledd a Dysgu Cymraeg is a 1-year Arts Council Wales funded Llais y Lle (The Voice of Place) project which aims to develop a Welsh language teaching pedagogy using creative writing to support people for whom the aural, verbal, and social communicative elements of traditional Welsh language learning environments is inaccessible.
- Throughout the year we will gather together monthly at The Place, Newport to explore ways in which we learn best and how that can be applied to learning Welsh through creative writing.
- Following a 6-month period of exploration and a public sharing and gathering of feedback lead artists Krystal S. Lowe and Nia Gandhi will spend 2-months drafting a Creative Writing syllabus for developing Welsh language acquisition and confidence.
- The final 4-months of the project will be spent trailing, testing, and re-drafting this syllabus.
At every step of the way, our community of disabled creatives will be at the forefront of the decision-making process not only in the two lead creatives but with those we bring along the way.
Anabledd a Dysgu Cymraeg aims to empower and equip disabled creatives with the skills to develop the use of the Welsh language in their artistic practice and build greater connections in Welsh language arts to ensure a sustained development. The legacy of Anabledd a Dysgu Cymraeg is to offer a Welsh language teaching pedagogy which can be shared with creative writing practitioners throughout Wales to enable more inclusive and creative Welsh language learning opportunities for disabled artists to develop bilingual and Welsh language work.
